A perfectly executed ride by Jett Stanley helped Wymark (NZ) (Savabeel) secure his third Victorian country Cup on Sunday.

Stanley came with a late charge aboard the Gavin Bedggood-trained stayer to take out the Listed Seymour Cup, adding to the horse’s wins in the Yarra Valley Cup and Stawell Gold Cup earlier this year.

The $13 chance was too good for Magnaspin ($21), while Lim’s Saltoro ($7.50) boxed on well to finish third. Detonator Jack, who started favourite at $4.80, was sixth, with Storm Leopard ($4.80) having to settle for 12th.

Bedggood praised Stanley for his well-time ride aboard the OTI-raced Wymark.

“Jett executed the plan well; we didn’t want to be any closer than three off the fence,” Bedgood told Racing.com.

“I’ve had a lot of luck with Jett and I could count his bad rides on one hand. He rides them how I ask, and you can’t ask for more than that.”

Bedggood revealed he was quietly confident, given Wymark had pleased him at trackwork.

“He’s actually been Kingswood’s gallop partner for the last few weeks, and we thought his work at Cranbourne on Tuesday morning was every bit as good as his, but I still thought he was one run away. That will have him peaking for that 1800-metre race on Melbourne Cup Day,” Bedgood added.

“It was a good win.

“We paid $35,000 for him online 12 months ago. He won a Saturday race at Caulfield, he won Yarra Valley Cup, he won a Stawell Cup, and now he’s won a Seymour Cup. He’s been a great money-spinner for connections, and he’ll probably end up at the Magic Millions (in January) like last year.”

Bedggood has Kingswood running in next Saturday’s Gr.1 Caulfield Cup.
