Jimmy’s little brother completes hat-trick
In’kantosstar (NZ) (Per Incanto), a full brother to the triple Group 1 winner Jimmysstar (NZ) (Per Incanto), made it three consecutive wins when successful at Caulfield Heath on Wednesday.
The four-year-old son of Per Incanto was victorious in the hands of Ethan Brown, who also rides the gelding’s older sibling.
And just like Jimmysstar, In’kantosstar was bred by Pete and Chrissy Algie and Little Avondale Stud (Sam and Catriona Williams). He is also trained by Ciaron Maher and races in Ozzie Kheir’s silks.
Following a maiden win on the synthetic track at Ballarat on August 11, In’kantosstar doubled-up in BM62 grade at Geelong on August 28, before Wednesday’s success.
In’kantosstar was sent off at $1.45 in the 1500-metre BM70, where he faced eight rivals.
The bay gelding broke well and settled in the one-one, as the second favourite, Katsumi Orochi (Maurice), set the pace. Brown had to give his mount a reminder approaching the home turn, but he was soon on the scene.
In’kantosstar looked vulnerable, albeit fleetingly, at the business end of the race, but Brown kept him going and he went on to score by 1.25 lengths.
"He is a very nice, progressive horse, but does have a lot to learn," Brown said.
In'kantosstar was consigned by Little Avondale Stud at the 2024 Australian Easter Yearling Sale, where Mat Becker's Group 1 Bloodstock going to $260,000 to secure him.
