Unbeaten Kiwi mare turns heads at Flemington
Unbeaten Kiwi recruit Aurora Belle (NZ) (Belardo) has made an immediate impression since joining Lindsay Park, with Glenn Ingram excited by what he saw from the stakes-winning mare in her first Victorian jumpout.
Aurora Belle worked strongly through an 800-metre Flemington hit-out on September 4 as she continues her build towards her Australian debut.
The mare finished second in the Soft 5 heat, but it was the manner of her work that caught the attention of Ingram and Edward Sadler.
“She’s interesting,” Ingram said on The Trial Show. “Very interesting.
“Beautiful filly. Look at the way she’s striding out here.
“She’s got her ears up, she’s cruising.”
Aurora Belle arrives in Victoria unbeaten from two starts in New Zealand and already boasts a stakes victory.
She has now joined the powerful Ben, Will and JD Hayes stable and holds a nomination for the Golden Eagle.
Ingram believes Lindsay Park has an excellent record of improving horses recruited from across the Tasman.
“Rarely do horses come over from New Zealand and go backwards with Team Hayes,” Ingram said.
“They tend to go forward and I’m really excited to see what this filly can do here in Melbourne.”
Sadler was also impressed by how Aurora Belle responded when challenged in the jumpout.
“What I liked also was when she was challenged, she responded well and her work after the line was very good too,” he said.
His instruction to punters was simple.
