Decision made with Pride Of Jenni
Trelawney Stud bred Pride Of Jenni (Pride Of Dubai) won’t be striving for a repeat of her 2024 heroics in the Queen Elizabeth Stakes (2000m) at Randwick this Saturday, with connections opting instead to aim up at the mares’ only Queen Of The Turf Stakes (1600m).
The last-start Australian Cup runner-up had been nominated for both races, but was paid-up on Tuesday morning for the 1600-metre race where she will be matched up against the likes of fellow Gr.1 winners Lady Shenandoah and Treasurethe Moment.
In 2024, Pride Of Jenni won the Queen Elizabeth after getting out to something like a 30-length lead mid-race.
Pride Of Jenni, who was narrowly beaten into third place first-up in the Gr.1 All-Star Mile at Flemington, before being edged out of the Australian Cup, has won at least one race each campaign since the autumn of 2023 and it is understood that played a part in the decision to stick to the mares’ race rather than tackle the likes of the unbeaten Autumn Glow in the Queen Elizabeth Stakes
