Addictive Habit was an outstanding servant for Lee Somervell and the Cambridge trainer has hopes of a current member of his stable scaling similar heights.

The now-retired son of Columbia won 11 of his 39 starts, including the Gr.1 Livamol Classic (2040m), two editions of the Gr.2 Winter Cup (1600m) and the Gr.2 Foxbridge Plate (1200m).
He was also successful in the Listed Southbank Stakes (1800m) at the Gold Coast.

Progressive four-year-old One Prize One Goal, a last-start winner, has earned a favourable comparison with Addictive Habit.

“I think he can develop into an open grade horse, if not a Group One winner,” Somervell said. “For me, he can take over from Addictive Habit.”

One Prize One Goal was put aside after success at Hawke’s Bay last month with the intention of a return later this year.

“All going well, he’ll be going to the Hastings carnival,” Somervell said. “The only chink in his armour is going right-handed, but I think I can get him to go that way later on.”
